மார்ச், ஏப்ரல் மாதங்களில் நடைபெறும் எஸ்எஸ்எல்சி பொதுத் தேர்வுக்கு தனித்தேர்வர்கள், வருகிற 29-ம் தேதி முதல் நவம்பர் 7-ம் தேதி வரை கல்வி மாவட்ட வாரியாக உள்ள அரசுத் தேர்வுத்துறை சேவை மையங்களுக்கு நேரில் சென்று ஆன்லைனில் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம் என்று அரசு தேர்வுத் துறை அறிவித்துள்ளது.

A plan of action has been put in place to get good results in this year’s State Board Plus-Two examinations in Madurai district.
The School Education Department officials here have prepared special study material, exclusively for ‘weak students’ who were identified by their subject teachers based on performance in quarterly examinations and class tests. This study material will be distributed to teachers during special training sessions being conducted by the Department from December 17 to 21.
Chief Educational Officer S. Nagaraja Murugan told The Hindu on Saturday that the objective of preparing public exam-oriented study material was to secure 100 per cent pass in the Class XII Board examinations. “Since the public examinations are nearing, we have prepared study material for all core subjects with the help of expert teachers. They will be distributed to students in their schools,” he said.
Officials are also paying special attention on bright students who have the potential to score high marks. While one set of study material was prepared especially to make every student pass/prevent failures in the Plus Two examinations, they have also come out with a CD meant for bright students to help them score a couple of marks more and be in the State toppers’ list.
Priority was given to physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, commerce, accountancy, economics, and history thereby covering students of all groups in Plus Two. “We are conducting exam-oriented training for five days covering one subject a day. Plus Two subject teachers of government, corporation, Kallar Reclamation, Adi Dravidar and aided higher secondary schools have been asked to attend the training where the special study material would be handed over to them,” Mr. Nagaraja Murugan said.
The material from select portions for each subject was prepared based on the previous years’ question papers, repeated questions for different marks and one-word questions. This would help slow-learners or weak students to focus on these questions and get through the Board examinations.
Review after exams
Performance of students in half-yearly examinations, beginning on December 19, would also be analysed and further intervention would be made after seeing the result. “We will review the list of subject-wise failures and then teachers would be instructed to pay attention to those students. I am confident that our special study material will make things easy and simple for Plus Two students,” he said.
The preparation of material was done at the behest of Collector Anshul Mishra who has been periodically monitoring the situation with authorities of School Education Department.
Mr. Nagaraja Murugan has a suggestion for bright students of Plus Two who somehow “ignore” language subjects: “If one has to be a State topper, the marks scored in Tamil and English subjects become crucial. It is not enough if you do very well in other subjects but score less in languages. To be an overall topper, the core subjects alone are not enough.”
A circular was sent to all schools informing them about the special training in subjects. The training sessions would be held at seven locations between December 17 and 21.
